Notes....In April 2017 Namesco wrote to me in regards to SSLs. SSL Secure Sockets Layer(SSL) is a standard security protocol for establishing encrypted links between a web server and a browser in an online communication. The usage of SSL technology ensures that all data transmitted between the web server and browser remains encrypted. They advised me that very soon Google will be making updates to their Chrome web browser to ensure that any websites that connect over HTTP will be outlined as Not Secure. At that time this website fell under this category.Namesco strongly recommended that I consider upgrading this website to include an SSL certificate, as without this, this site will continue to display a warning stating the following Your connection to this site is not secure. You should not enter any sensitive information on this site (for example passwords or credit cards), because it could be stolen by attackers. Although I have no wish to accept any sensitive information I thought it a good idea to keep up to date and to get to get a SSL certicate.
The SSL certificate will encrypt all data transferred through this website so hackers cant intercept it. It will also mean that you will see https in the address bar, rather than http (the s stands for secure). There is not a padlock because there is "mixed content" on this site. Mixed content occurs when a webpage containing a combination of both secure (HTTPS) and non-secure (HTTP) content is delivered over SSL to the browser. Non-secure-mixed-content-errorcontent can theoretically be read or modified by attackers, even though the parent page is served over HTTPs. Since this site is a personalised collection of sites seen and places visited without regard to the SSL certification of the website supporting the sites or place this mixed content is likely to continue for some time.
It was simpler to introduce new pictures and text from 2017 into a new index page. The previous index page used can be reached by clicking on the bottom right image.
